Your guide will meet you at a point where you would like to be picked up. Either you start your day from Izmir which is around 70 km from Pergamum or from Assos which is located at the north of Pergamum, as you get close to the city when your guide point the Acropolis to you it will not mean anything until you get close enough to see the beautiful marble Temple of Trajan and the steepest theater of the world. It fells like is it real? But it is.

The city of Pergamum is located around 30 km from the Aegean Sea and this protected the city. But when the earthquake hit the city, pieces from the Acropolis fell down and the locals used them in their houses untill the Germans have discovered them. 

Pergamum today is not a big tourist city, it is hard to believe this was the capital of the Roman Empire once, but because it is one of the Seven Churches of Revelation it is becoming more popular for Biblical Tours.

Acropolis  Many ruins of the ancient Pergamum is located at the Acropolis today. You will start walking up passing by the remains of residential area and reach the library. Here you will be looking down to see the location of the Altar of Zeus which other parts are in Pergamum Museum in Berlin today. Than you will walk down the narrow stairs to see the wonderful view from the theater and you will also see the Temple of Dionysus, wait till you go up to Temple of Trajan this is the best place to look down for a great photo of the theater and far at the end is the Asklepion.

Red Basilica  This largest red brick building in Turkey today, was built as a Temple for Egyption Gods first and used as a Church, too. You will stop to take a photo of this beautiful building on your way to Acropolis. 

Asclepion  This ancient healing center was a big complex with temples, theater, library, sleeping rooms and more. Today, by the sacret water Internatıonal Psychotherapics Congress is organised. As you are on your way back to your vehicle you will take your best photo of the Acropolis, this road called “Via Tecta”, that you are walking on today, used to be the road in ancient days that people used to come here from Acropolis, too. 

In between your visits you will stop for home made local lunch and you will also have chance to taste hundres of years old tradational desert. 

On your way back while watching sunset in the Aegean Sea you will be amazed by this city, thinking of your moments when you were sitting at the theater.
