Alanya
Alanya is a town in the Mediterranean region of Antalya province. Alanya, located to the east of Antalya city center, is the most important source of tourism in the Mediterranean. History Of Alanya
There is no exact date on which the first settlement made in Alanya. Archaeological studies show that the history of the region dates back to the Upper Paleolithic period. The oldest known name of the city is Korakesium. In the 13th century, Anadolu Selcuklu rulers 1st Alaaddin Keykubadti. The monarch defeated Kyr Vart, who ruled in Alanya Castle and was one of the Christian families, and captured the castle. With the acquisition of Alanya Castle, the name of the city changed to Alaiye. Atatürk, who visited the town in 1935, gave the name Alanya. The monarch has built a palace here in his name. Besides Konya, the Seljuks used Alanya as a second capital and winter Center. The city took within the borders of the Ottoman Empire in 1471 during the reign of Sultan Mehmet The Conqueror.
