Adana
Adana is a unique city located on the banks of the Seyhan River and south of the Taurus Mountains. Adana, one of the provinces of the Mediterranean region, has a population of over two million people. The fact that the population of Adana is so crowded makes Adana the sixth city with the highest population in Turkey. Adana has 15 districts and municipalities, mainly Seyhan, Yüreğir, Sarıçam, and Çukurova. Adana is one of the most developed cities in the Mediterranean and Turkey. History Of Adana
The history of Adana province dates back to the early ages (3000 BC). It is known that Adana founded as a mansion on the banks of the Seyhan River. The oldest written records of Adana found for the first time in the Cava inscriptions of the Hittites, one of the most established civilizations in Anatolia. Since the seventh century BC, Islamic armies have arrived in the region. Arab historians named Adana after the Prophet Muhammad. It thought that Yasef came from his grandson Ezene. When the Turks crossed the Taurus Mountains and landed on the southern coast, they named the region Çukurova. Çukurova's first name in history is Cilicia. The names used for Adana have started to cause various confusion. For this reason, the area was named Adana by the Ottomans in 1878.
