Giresun
Giresun, one of the unique cities of the Black Sea, is located on the Black Sea Coast Highway D010. Giresun has all kinds of shades of Green as it receives rainfall every period. With a population of 444,467 people, it is the 44th most populous in Turkey. Giresun province has 16 districts with unique beauties. About 30% of the population is gathered in the Central District. Giresun, which has a 122 km coastal connection to the Black Sea, is one of the cities that hosts unique natural beauties where Green meets blue. History Of Giresun
The issue of where the city founded and by whom it inhabited is controversial. This hesitation is also mentioned in sources dating back to 350 BC. The geographer Strabon emphasized that the town he called Farnakia founded in the place where today's Giresun city is. The Roman ruler Arrien Farnakia stated that the old name was Kerasus and wrote that the Sinopians founded this place. As a result of language studies in the history of cities and towns in ancient Anatolian history, it understood that there had been a Turkish presence in this region since the 2000s BC. The Turkification of Giresun was demonstrated by Conqueror Sultan Mehmet's conquest of Trabzon in 1461. Giresun indeed joined the Ottoman Empire on this date.
